PS3 Firmware 2.70 is live!!!! Cross game text chat, Game info search, and more!!!
Isn't it funny how whenever the PS3 receives a system update, it always manages to make big news? Well, this is no exception...
After firing up my PS3 this morning, I was greeted by the "a system update is available, go to [Settings] > [System Update] to update your console... I was thinking, please be 2.70... And it was...
Features listed below
TEXT CHAT -You can now chat to people on your friends list using Text Chat, to do this, go to the [Friends] tab in the XMB and select [Start New Chat], here you will be given the option for Voice or Text Chat. You can chat to up to 15 friends at a time and can be in 3 chat rooms at any one time.
Internet Search option for games - You can now select [Internet Search] from the options displayed while highlighting a game and pressing triangle.
Quicker Trophy Synchronisation and Comparison - No official word on this one yet, but I've noticed that the speed that trophies show up on friends PSN Cards is greatly increased, as is the speed of Comparing Trophies.
Volume Control - You can now adjust the volume of specific music tracks stored on your HDD. This is added to help stop sudden loudness in your Music Library.
File Share Capacity - You can now share photographs up to 3MB with friends. This has been expanded from the previous 1MB limit
Copy and Paste - Copy and Paste has been added to the Web Browser
PSN Download ETA - Downloads from the Playstation Store now give an estimated time of arrival.
TV Show And Movies Backup - US PS3 owners can now back up their Movies and TV shows downloaded from the Video Store onto external storage, Movies downloaded on PSP can now be played back via the PS3.
That's all folks so far. I'll keep you posted as more info comes in.
